BETHLEHEM (Jun 20) –
State Senator Lisa M.
Boscola announced today that the
Department of Conservation and
Natural Resources (DCNR) has awarded
two grants within the 18th
Senatorial District through the
Community Conservation Partnerships
Program (CCPP).
Northampton County,
in cooperation with Wildlands
Conservancy, has been awarded
$250,000 for land acquisition for
watershed habitat protection in
Upper Mount Bethel Township and
Whitehall Township has been awarded
$40,000 for the renovation of
existing Ironton rail trail to
include ADA accessibility,
landscaping, paving and other
improvements.
“With the help of
DCNR, there is the ability to
partner in a local initiative to
improve the quality of life in our
community,” Boscola said. “It is
important for us to protect and
restore our environment now so
future generations can enjoy it
years to come.”
The CCPP program is
administered by DCNR’s Bureau of
Recreation and Conservation to
provide financial and technical
assistance to local governments,
rail and trail organizations, land
trusts and other non-profits for
park, recreation, conservation and
greenway projects.
“I am always pleased
when state funds find their way to
the Lehigh Valley – we all stand to
benefit.”
