BETHLEHEM (NOV 1)-
On Tuesday, November 1, 2005, State
Senator Lisa M. Boscola announced
that $149,508.28 in education grants
have been awarded to six school
districts in the 18th
Senatorial District.
The grants
awarded are known as the Dual
Enrollment Program Grants and are
distributed through the PA
Department of Education. The Dual
Enrollment Program Grants will help
nearly 20,000 high school students
statewide earn college credit in
core academic courses, such as math,
science and English at 77 post
secondary institutions, including 13
community colleges and 11 State
System of Higher Education
universities.
“Too many high
school students are not prepared for
college or jobs in our high-skill
workforce by the time they graduate
from high school,” Boscola said.
“Dual Enrollment is a way to help
students get the most out of our
schools - Especially for at-risk
students, dual enrollment presents a
unique opportunity to get started on
earning a college degree.”
Dual Enrollment
is just a fraction of Governor
Rendell’s ‘Job Ready Pennsylvania’
initiative.
