BETHLEHEM (APR 3) – Northampton Community College’s big plans for renovating its new Fowler Family Southside Center received a big boost recently from State Senator Lisa Boscola. Last week Boscola presented NCC President Art Scott with a check for $1 million in state funding to move the project forward. “For many, many years, Northampton Community College has made a great contribution to our region and to our residents,” Boscola said. “This new Southside Center will literally open up a whole new world of opportunities for generations to come.”
“This project not only makes Northampton Community College one of Pennsylvania’s premier community colleges, but it also represents a strong commitment to the future of Southside Bethlehem and Beth Works,” Boscola said. Boscola announced that there are other commitments from Rep. Craig Dally and Rep. T.J. Rooney – as well as Governor Rendell – that will be forthcoming. A total of $5 million in state funding will be invested in the Southside project, she said. “This project and the millions of dollars in improvements to this former Bethlehem Steel office building means a lot to the revitalization of the Southside – and to the success of Beth Works,” Boscola said. “But, I also know that the education and job training and new skills that NCC will provide on this site means just as much – if not more – to all of the families that are a part of this community.” For additional information on RCAP funds or any other state-related matter, please feel free to contact Senator Boscola’s Bethlehem Office at (610) 868-8667. ### |
