BOSCOLA URGES LOCAL SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN TO TAKE ADVANTAGE

OF NEW STATE PROGRAM FOR MILITARY FAMILIES

BETHLEHEM (July 18) – Local servicemen and women in the Pennsylvania National Guard or the U.S. Armed Services should take advantage of a new state program to help military families, according to State Senator Lisa M. Boscola.

The Military Family Relief Assistance Program is now accepting applications from families of servicemen and women who served on active duty for at least 30 consecutive days, Boscola said.

The program provides direct grants to qualified families that are in need of immediate financial assistance due to a family member being called to active duty.

“Military families should not have to worry whether they can afford to cover basic needs if there is a sudden loss of income or a family crisis,” Boscola said. “I don’t think enough of us really appreciate the great sacrifices that the families of our men and women in the National Guard and Armed Services must endure.  This program will provide peace of mind for those men and women who are bravely serving our Commonwealth and our country.”
