BETHLEHEM (Apr 10) – State Senator Lisa M. Boscola announced today that applications are now being accepted for the Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans’ Benefit Program. Applications will be accepted until August 31, 2015. “Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans should be commended for their service and sacrifice during the conflict in the Middle East,” Boscola said. “This bonus is an important ‘Thank You’ to our Veterans for their vital role in fighting for our safety and protecting our freedoms,” Boscola said.
In November 2006,
Pennsylvania voters gave overwhelming approval to a ballot question to
fund the Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans’ Benefit Act (Act 29 of 2006).
This program allows for compensation to be paid to eligible service
members as well as certain surviving relatives of deceased veterans.
There is a one-time benefit of $75 per month for each month served with
a maximum benefit of $525. There is an additional one-time benefit of
$5,000 if a service member died in active duty or as a result of serious
wounds, diseases or injuries received while on active duty; or was
declared a prisoner of war during the conflict. ### |
