Bethlehem, PA – September 17, 2019 – State Senator Lisa M. Boscola announced today that four state grants totaling $255,000 in state funds have been approved today as part of the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.

“I’m pleased to announce state funds being allocated to improve recreational opportunities across the Lehigh Valley,” Boscola said. “I will continue to seek state funding and resources for local efforts aimed at improving the quality of life of our residents through improved and expanded recreational opportunities.”

The four grants are being awarded to the following:

  • ArtsQuest: $100,000 for its Arts Plaza Parks Development Project;
  • Whitehall Township: $60,000 for Whitehall Parkway Pavilion Rest Area Development;
  • Lower Saucon Township: $25,000 for Special Needs Park Equipment Upgrades project;
  • Lafayette College: $70,000 for the Easton Art Park Master Site Plan.

The grants were approved today by the state Commonwealth Financing Authority Board in Harrisburg. Funding from the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program uses revenue generated through Act 13 of 2012 that imposes an impact fee on the state’s unconventional natural gas wells.
