Manufacturing Month

Senator Lisa BoscolaOctober is Manufacturing Month so we have been highlighting the manufacturing industry that, in Pennsylvania, ranks 8th in the United States and contributes $93.7B to the economy with #MadeInPA products. The manufacturing industry in Pennsylvania pays its employees an average wage of more than $67,000 – which is 20% higher than the average annual wage across Pennsylvania!

In Pennsylvania, manufacturing employs over 570,400 people who work in over 18,900 establishments.  This next statistic might just be the one that makes me the most proud – as the daughter of a Steelworker, I was raised on the backs of the manufacturing industry so it is near and dear to my heart.  In the Lehigh Valley, manufacturing is the leading job growth sector – defying employment trends in other areas of the state and contributing to our expanding economy.  The Lehigh Valley is a very unique metropolitan area - manufacturing is alive and well…and it is here to stay for many years to come!
