BETHLEHEM, -January 14, 2014- State Senator Lisa Boscola announced that new recreation and conservation grants for 2014 are available through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).  Applications will be accepted from January 15 – April 16, 2014. The DCNR helps Pennsylvania communities and organizations plan, acquire, and develop recreation, park and trail facilities and conserve open space.

“The DCNR has funded more than 4000 projects over the past 20 years” Boscola said. “Pairing local conservation and recreation visions with the Department’s Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan allows for local communities as well as the Commonwealth, to benefit from these projects.”

For 2014, the grant program encourages applications that advance local conservation and recreation initiatives with a special focus on the following areas: sustainable and green park projects, rehabilitation and universal access, trail development, land conservation, emerging trends, rivers implementation, and partnerships. Additionally, the DCNR offers free grant workshops with multiple dates and locations.

For more information on these grant workshops or to submit a grant application, visit or contact Senator Boscola’s office at One East Broad Street, Suite 120, Bethlehem PA 18018 (610-861-2184).
