Bethlehem, Feb. 28, 2018 – Sen. Lisa Boscola is reminding veterans of the Persian Gulf conflict that they may be eligible for the Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans Bonus Program. 

“I would like to thank our veterans for their service to this country and encourage them to apply for this program,” Boscola said. “The bonuses are a way for us to recognize the bravery of these men and women and thank them for vigilantly protecting our freedom.”  

Boscola said the deadline to apply for the bonus program is August 31. The bonus program, pays $75 per month for qualifying, active-duty service members, up to a $525 maximum. For those whose death was related to illness or injury received in the line of duty in Operations Desert Shield or Desert Storm, there is an additional $5,000 available to the surviving family. Service members who were declared prisoners of war may also be eligible for an additional $5,000. 

Veterans who served on active duty in the Persian Gulf from August 2, 1990 to August 31, 1991 are eligible for this bonus program. They must have served with the U.S. Armed Forces, a reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces or the Pennsylvania National Guard. Veterans applying must have been a legal resident of Pennsylvania during the time of their active duty and have been discharged from active duty under honorable conditions.
